MOUNT VERNON — A 64-year-old Butler man has been arrested following a shooting incident Sunday morning near North Liberty.

According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, a 9-1-1 call was received from a motorist reporting that his vehicle had been struck by gunfire when he turned around in a driveway on Treaty Road at approximately 8:45 a.m. Sunday. When the vehicle was struck, none of the occupants, including two adults and three small children, were injured.

When a suspect was identified, Barber, detectives and the Tactical Response Unit responded to the Treaty Road location.

Dennis R. Bullock, a Treaty Road resident, has been charged with attempted felonious assault and is being held at the Knox County Jail.

According to Barber, additional charges could be filed against Bullock once this case is presented to the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office.

The continuing investigation is being handled by Detective David Light.
