  • August 5, 2010 10:46 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — A road improvement project will begin soon on Myers Road in Milford Township just east of Ohio 657 near Lock. The Knox County Commissioners awarded the project to Small’s Asphalt Paving Inc. on Monday for $319,513, at the recommendation of Knox County Engineer Jim Henry.

Knox County crews will be installing a concrete box and culvert and a large diameter culvert before road construction begins. Milford Township is receiving funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission to fund the project and is putting up 21 percent of matching funds.

The project is to begin around mid-August. Myers Road will be open to local traffic only and will see intermittent periods of temporary closure. The job is projected to be completed by Nov. 1.
