  • Tower test has good results

  • August 7, 2010 12:26 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — Testing on the north end water tower earlier this week went well, Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis said on Friday.

The testing was conducted early Tuesday morning and lasted for a two-day period allowing the city to shut down the north end tower and reroute water usage to the east end water tower.

“On our end we didn’t have any problems and we didn’t have any calls from residents that they experienced a shortage of water or no pressure in the water,” he said. “We actually took the north end water tower out of service for two days and then put it back in service. During that time we feed [those residents that use] the north end tower with water from the east end.”
