  • KCH cancer care center receives accreditation

  • August 11, 2010 10:27 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — With the demand for quality health care services on the rise, Knox Community Hospital continues to enhance its services to cancer patients.

Recently, the Center for Cancer Care received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Quality of care standards set by the COC represent a wide range of services a facility must meet in order to attain accreditation such as cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement. An on-site evaluation is performed by COC to ensure the facility and staff are in compliance with the standards set. In order to maintain accreditation, the facility is monitored and an on-site review takes place every three years.
