  • Cow injures two men

  • August 18, 2010 11:10 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — A normally docile cow went on a rampage this morning at United Producers, on Harcourt Road, injuring two employees.

John Vaughn and Kenny Shaw, both in their 70s, were working with the cow when it went out of control, according to Rick Reynolds, manager of United Producers.

“Something spooked it, [Vaughn and Shaw] have cuts and bruises,” Reynolds told the News this morning. “It’s calm now,” he added.

Mount Vernon Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Chris Menapace confirmed the extent of the injuries.

“They have cuts and bruises from the cow knocking them around,” said Menapace.

The men were taken to Knox Community Hospital by MVFD EMS personnel.
