UTICA — On Monday, due to financial constraints, the North Fork Board of Education made further reductions in staff: High school special education teacher Kevin Murphy and cafeteria workers Faith Bruckelmyer and Debra Duffy.

Also regarding personnel, the board granted the retirement request of bus driver David Gill and accepted letters of resignation from elementary teacher Melinda Whitehead, cashier Brenda Grady and assistant head cook Eydie Koski. Karen Bricker was recalled from the reduction in force, and new hires include Melessa Bovee, junior high math teacher; Tammy Faucett, guidance secretary at Utica High School; Karen Frazier, cashier; Kristine Valentine, cashier; and Donna Young, server.

The board also made further food service reassignments and increased the daily hours for the high school intervention specialist. It also approved the substitute teacher list and issued a number of extra service/supplemental contracts and summer sports stipends.

Other actions taken by the board included the approval of routine fiscal actions, approval of a supplemental vision insurance program for employees and approval of two UHS marching band trips, which will be at no cost to the board.
