  • KCCC adjusts programs

MOUNT VERNON — Along with some new staff members, students entering or returning to the Knox County Career Center this school year will notice some program changes.

Business Technologies has morphed into the Business and Finance Academy. “That name,” said instructor Tammy Klein, “more accurately reflects what the program actually entails. The previous name didn’t really encompass the finance part, and that is a big part of this lab. Juniors do paper/pencil accounting the whole year, and as seniors they do computerized accounting.

“A big part of the business portion is management,” she continued. “The senior year we focus on management and anything that would go on in a business, such as business ethics and business law, and the students create a business plan. That includes a finance piece — money to start the business and keep it running and hopefully making a profit.
