  • New changes coming to ‘Y’

  • August 24, 2010 11:30 am EDT
MOUNT VERNON — Changes are on the horizon for the Mount Vernon YMCA.

The most visible change that members, and non-members, will notice is a new logo.

“We are still the YMCA of Mount Vernon and belong to the YMCA of USA,” said Director Nick Clark. “It will be a more youthful looking logo and can incorporate different color combinations. It will be a general movement with steps put into place of changing signage, letterheads, etc.,” said Clark. “Many people already refer to us as the ‘Y,’ so it should stay very recognizable.”

Opened in 1907, the YMCA of Mount Vernon currently serves approximately 750 members, according to Clark. That number can fluctuate, depending on the season or particular sport currently in progress. The number of employees can also vary for the same reasons, usually staying around 80 staff members.

“We’re heading into a big upstroke,” said Clark about the changes which will be made.
