  • City reviews vehicle policy and EMS billing

  • August 27, 2010 10:21 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — Recommendations were recently handed down to the city of Mount Vernon by State Auditor Mary Taylor.

The recommendations were not included in an audit report but rather a management letter as nothing more than a list of suggestions, according to Mount Vernon City Auditor Terry Scott.

“There were no recommendations last year, but there were just three suggestions they wanted us to look at this year,” said Mount Vernon City Councilman Bruce Hawkins.

The first recommendation was to suggest having a policy in place regarding the use of city vehicles. Details might include who is to use vehicles and when they can be used. Scott said the administration is currently working on a policy proposal.

Another recommendation is in regard to EMS billing services and suggest there be someone to follow up if, and when, there is a rate increase to see that any increase is in line and that individuals are being billed properly.
