  • Murder remains unsolved

  • August 28, 2010 1:19 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — The Jean Davis murder is still an ongoing investigation, according to Knox County Sheriff David Barber.

“It remains our highest priority at this time,” he told the News.

Barber announced in June a reward was being offered for information in the case. The collection of information and the reward are being handled by the Licking County Crime Stoppers.

Barber encourages anyone with information in this case to contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 393-6800; the toll-free Crime Tip Line at (888) 363-8477; or Licking County Crime Stoppers at (740) 349-6888 or toll free at (888) 488-9058.

Barber also reported the creation of a crime information website was still in the works, but was taking longer than originally planned.

“We are having to have our entire sheriff’s office website reformatted to give us the Facebook and Twitter capability, for people to be able to follow our page and get current information,” he said. “That process has been taking a little bit longer than we anticipated with our web people. But it’s in the process.”
