MOUNT VERNON — A joint law enforcement operation Thursday has resulted in the seizure of nearly $130,000 worth of marijuana.

According to Sheriff David Barber, detectives and the Tactical Response Unit teamed up with agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for a marijuana eradication operation in the county. A total of 127 growing marijuana plants were located and seized from various locations in the county.

Barber said trained spotters in a helicopter directed officers on the ground to the plants, many of which were found in or near cornfields. There were no arrests made during Thursday’s operation.

Anyone with information about growing marijuana plants or other drug activity in the county is encouraged to call the sheriff’s Detective Division at 393-6800 or the toll-free crime tip line at (888) 363-TIPS (888-363-8477).

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the 10-county METRICH Enforcement Unit drug task force.
