MOUNT VERNON — Open Monday through Saturday, Volume Salon welcomes clients by appointments and walk-ins. Located at 4 Wooster Road in Mount Vernon, the salon offers cuts, colors, perms, relaxers, up-dos, makeup, waxing, extensions, and specializes in styles for any special occasion.
Previously known as “Snips,” Volume Salon is owned by Amy Mickley, and her husband, Pat, who recently re-opened after renovations and a four-year absence in the community. During their absence they leased out the building to another hair salon before their return.
Mickley continued to keep up with the latest techniques in cosmetology, and encourages her staff to stay on top of the latest trends and styles.
“The salon as a whole, we are all about education,” she said. “We recently completed a class in hair color and we are all about staying up-to-date with new information [in cosmetology].”
Mickley has been styling hair since 1985, and enjoys interacting with clients and working with traditional and modern hairdos.
Managing the salon is Haylei Brown, who trained at the Paul Mitchell Academy along with two other stylists. Brown has worked locally and in Columbus before coming to Volume Salon.
Stylists Lindsey Matheny, Abby Cunningham, Aly Calkins, Ruby Warner, Jodi Stallard, Judi Jenkins, Jackie Douglas and Kristi Shoewalter are also members of the salon team.
Starting in September the salon will be holding client informational classes. Stylists will teach clients on ways to do their hair at home with different tools and products.
“We do offer hair care for the entire family,” said Mickley. “And try to have a relaxed atmosphere, not just for our staff, but for all our clients. We just want every client that comes through our door to feel welcomed. Just like our motto, ‘May all who enter as a guest, leave as a friend.’ And we want everyone to leave knowing that they are cared for and that we are looking out for what’s best for them. We want people to build a confidence in us that they’ll return to the salon and enjoy it.”
