  • Fredericktown man struck this morning on Fairgrounds Road

MOUNT VERNON — A pedestrian hit by a car at the intersection of Wooster and Fairgrounds roads this morning has been identified as Richard Whaley, 26, Fredericktown.

Whaley was struck by a vehicle driven by Kurt W. Swope, 28, Mount Vernon, at about 6:45 a.m.

Whaley was taken to Knox Community Hospital by the Mount Vernon Fire Department. He was then flown by a MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical in Columbus. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Whaley was in stable condition.

There are no other details available at this time.
