Downtown accident
Two vehicle collided about 7:30 a.m. today at the intersection of South Main and Gambier streets. The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. The names of the drivers were not available a press time. No serious injuries resulted from the accident. (Virgil Shiple)


Pedestrian struck
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car at the intersection of Wooster and Fairgrounds roads this morning at 6:45. The victim was taken by the Mount Vernon Fire Department to Knox Community Hospital and flown by a MedFlight helicopter to an unknown Columbus hospital. The names of the victim and driver of the car were not available at press time. Wooster Road was closed while the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the scene. Troopers, from left, are Sgt.
