DANVILLE — A new council member, welcome signs and the recognition of a longtime auxiliary police officer were on the agenda at the Danville Village Council meeting Wednesday.

Darin Durbin was sworn in to fill the council position left vacant by Gary Moreland’s resignation. The unexpired term will run through next year.

Mayor Bob Dile brought in samples of the river rock the village is considering using to construct village limit signs in at least two, maybe three, areas of town. Bill Conrad will donate eight boxes of rocks for the signs, which the village is still considering how and where to place.

Village council members also recognized Earl Vance for his 24 years with the auxiliary police force. Earl’s son, Monte, and two daughters, as well as a niece, were on hand to receive the plaque posthumously.
