FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown Local Schools earned an excellent district designation on the 2009-10 school year report card, and the elementary school and high school were also rated excellent.
The report cards use four main sets of data to evaluate schools: State indicators, which are based on state assessments, attendance and graduation rates; the performance index, which reflects the achievement of every student enrolled for the full academic year; adequate yearly progress for all subgroups, a federal requirement; and the value-added measure. Value-added measures how well each student progressed through the year and whether each student progress one year's worth of growth in the subject area through the year.
As a district, Fredericktown met 23 out of 26 state indicators, had a performance index score of 100.1 and met AYP. Reading progress in grades four, five and eight was below expectations, as were math scores in grades four through eight. The district’s student population is 35.1 percent economically disadvantaged and 16.9 percent are students with disabilities.
