  • Journey Church to tap into water supply

  • September 14, 2010 11:18 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners met Monday afternoon with new water/wastewater superintendent Jason Figgins to discuss a few items in their monthly meeting.

First was a request from Journey Church near Howard, which wants a 1-inch tap into the county water system. Figgins explained the best option would be to tap into the water main, run underneath the road and have the church meet there for a tap-in. This proposal would be cost efficient for the church and would require no approval from the Environmental Protection Agency. Commissioner Allen Stockberger recommended installing a back-flow preventer when completing this project.

A quote of $11,730 was received from Gateway Tanks to refinish the walkway of a tank near Floral Valley Community Center in Apple Valley. This quote includes using an epoxy-based paint for extended life and to prohibit rusting and deterioration. Most of the cost is for labor.

Finton Equipment supplied a quote of $1,075.31 to replace the main seal on a motor for the standby generator at the booster station. A service call was checked on previously to verify if it was covered under warranty.
