  • Voters will still see school levy issue on paper, machine ballots

FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredricktown Board of Education’s decision not to put an emergency operating levy before the voters this November will have little impact on the Knox County Board of Elections.

“No ballots have been issued,” said board director Kim Horn referring to absentee ballots. “We won’t be issuing any until [Saturday] and that’s just for military and overseas ballots. Absentee ballots will be available on (September) 28.

Although the ballots have yet to be printed, voters in the Fredericktown school district will still see the issue on paper and voting machine ballots.

“We haven’t sent the ballots out to be printed yet but they are all programmed in and ready to be printed,” Horn said.

Horn said changing the ballot is more than just a matter of going into the program and deleting the levy from the text of the ballot.

Horn said there would be notices about the change posted at all polling places where the levy appears on the ballot. Notices will also go out with all military, overseas and absentee ballots and will be posted for walk-in voters.
