Clearing out the weeds between the ramp the building was just one of the projects completed at the 4-H building on West High Street on Tuesday as part of the Community Care Day activities. Volunteers were treated to lunch Tuesday afternoon before heading off to work at various United Way agencies throughout Knox County as part of the Community Care Day. Dr. Michelle Linn-Gust, Ph.D., a specialist in suicide prevention, and grief recovery for those bereaved by suicide, spoke to a crowd at Mount Vernon Nazarene University Tuesday evening, offering comfort and hope to those in attendance. On Monday, Utica Junior High School special education teacher Erica Rodehaver was formally recognized by the North Fork Board of Education when it met at Newton Elementary School. Rodehaver is a recent recipient of the DOW Professional Excellence in Education award.
