MOUNT VERNON — Country Club Retirement Campus hosted the third annual Pick the Pizza on Sept. 13 with six pizzerias serving up their best pizza pies. With over 180 community members, apartment residents, neighbors, employees, family and friends in attendance, CCRC was buzzing with taste testers. Pizza Hut, McFadden’s Hot Spot Pizza, Creno’s Pizza, Papa John’s Pizza, Pizza Dock, and Domino’s Pizza participated and brought in their best entries.

“This year’s event was a great success,” said Tami Bunnell, marketing director for Country Club Retirement Campus. “We had an excellent variety of pizzas, including philly cheese, vegetarian, meatball, spinach alfredo, chicken, Hawaiian, and the standard pepperoni choices.”

Participants voted for their favorite pizza. The top three vote-getters were Pizza Dock taking first place, McFadden’s Hot Spot Pizza at second place, and Papa John’s in third place. Several voters said they had a tough time deciding, so they went back for more pizza before making up their mind.

Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, donations totaling $186 was raised toward Alzheimer’s support. CCRC has paired up with the Alzheimer’s Foundation to offer memory screenings for community members. The next screening will be held Sept. 28 at the Senior Resource Day at First Church of the Nazarene on Coshocton Road. For more information call (740) 397-2350.
