Kokosing trash

Thirty members of the Mount Vernon High School Environmental Club cleaned 1,717 pounds of trash out of the Kokosing River on Sunday. Junk removed from the scenic byway included tires, a bicycle and this chair muscled into the trash container by Brian Johnson and Jake Scott.  (Virgil Shipley)

Roll over

The driver of this van said he fell asleep when it left the road and rolled on its top at 9:15 this morning. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Keith Cross measured off the width of the road while investigating the crash on U.S. 36, 1 1/2 miles east of Howard. The driver was taken to Knox Community Hospital for treatment by the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District squad. His name was not available at press time.   (Virgil Shipley)
