  • Family pet doing well

  • September 30, 2010 11:43 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — Barb Annett’s cat, Buddy, who was shot with an arrow last Saturday, is doing well.

“He stood up today and took a couple of steps,” she said. “The vet’s going to take a look at him in another week to see how he’s doing.”

The incident was investigated by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Although county animal control did not handle this case, Animal Control Officer Roger Reed commented on his office’s position on cruelty to animals.

“Normally there is no way of knowing who did it,” he said. “If they know who did it or saw them do it then we would charge them with cruelty to animals. That is something we will not tolerate, cruelty to animals. But most of the time people will call the sheriff or the police department about this kind of thing. We do get involved every once in a while.”
