Square’s fountain to get facelift

The fountain on the Public Square was taken out in parts on Wednesday by technicians from the Robinson Iron Corp. of Alexander City, Ala. Foreman Al Neighbor leans in to cut the water line that sent water to the top of the fountain. The fountain is expected to return to the square in April.  (Virgil Shipley)

Generous donation

Students at St.Vincent dePaul School held a food drive in celebration of Friends Day of St.Vincent, the patron saint of the church. This is one of two pallets of food accepted by Joy Harris, right, executive director of Interchurch Social Services accepted Wednesday morning. School student and staff walked to Public Square where they loaded pickup trucks. These eighth graders helped take the donation, and $600 to ISS.
