  • Moto-cross bikes stolen

  • September 30, 2010 11:43 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — When Kevin Mishey, owner of Mid Ohio Suzuki-Honda-Yamaha-Kawasaki, learned his security alarm was activated early on Labor Day, he knew it could not be good.

“By the time we and the (sheriff’s deputies) arrived, they were gone. It looked like a professional job,” Mishey said.

Gone were six vehicles Mishey feels the thieves took because there are no tracking numbers on them.

“They were all moto-cross bikes, off-road racing bikes,” he said. “In most states, moto-cross bikes are not titled. The thieves can steal them and take them to another state to get rid of them. That’s the best stuff to steal — there’s no ID.”

Mishey said there was an alarm system but not security video on the lot but that is all about to change.

The bike were insured but it would be nice to get some of them back, Mishey said.

The incident is being investigated by the Knox County Sheriff’s office.

“The last I talked to (the sheriff’s office) there had been no progress,” he said.

A call to the KCSO requesting information on the case was not returned as of press time today.

Anyone with information on stolen bikes can call KCSO detectives at 393-6800.
