MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Police Department’s Emergency Response Team arrested Todd Kemp, 26, on Friday, for possessing an estimated 10 pounds of marijuana.

Kemp, a Mount Vernon resident, was suspected of transporting large amounts of marijuana from out of state in to Ohio. The operation was conducted without incident.

Kemp was taken to the Knox County Jail to await his bond hearing and formal charges.

Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge Paul Spurgeon set bond at $50,000 cash/surety with no 10 percent provision. A preliminary hearing has been set for Thursday at 10 a.m.

According to MVPD Capt. Hartz, “The operation showed how the Metrich Drug Task Force and its multiple agencies work in unison to accomplish the mission.” Hartz added that over the past several years, the Metrich Task Force has conducted several successful operations of this nature in the central Ohio area.

Assisting in the operation were MVPD detectives and patrol officers, Knox County Sheriff’s Office detectives, Delaware K-9 Officer and Mansfield Metrich members.
