Theibert saves the day

Mount Vernon Police Officer Kyle Theibert went beyond the call of duty when he rescued this pooch from the vehicle that “coasted” away from a parking space near the front of the Kmart store on Sunday. The car went over a curb and plunged down the hill. According to the police report, the operator of the vehicle left the vehicle running for the dog. Theibert noted the vehicle was in drive when inspected at the bottom of the hill. Since the driver was not in the car her name wasn’t on the accident report.  (Virgil Shipley)
