MOUNT VERNON — A Fredericktown driver is in Grant Medical Center in Columbus today with injuries aftering crashing his pickup truck Sunday night.
Gary Sharp, 59, is listed in good condition. The crash happened on Old Manfield Road at the intersection of North Liberty Road at 10:37 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Sharp was northbound when his pickup ran off the right side of the road on a slight left curve.
The truck hit an embankment, a tree and mailbox and rolled on to its left side. Sharp was partially ejected and pinned under the cab.
Just after Sharp’s accident, a second vehicle crested the hill and was unable to stop before hitting Sharp’s vehicle. That accident remains under investigation. No further details are available.
Mount Vernon Fire Department rescurers treated Sharp while he was pinned and then, using a portable winch, pulled the truck off of him.
