DANVILLE — A garden tractor was reported stolen Tuesday morning from the outside lot at Jelloway Valley Equipment near Danville. Owner Duane Mickley said a Simplicity four-wheel drive, heavy duty Legacy model tractor with a 60-inch mower deck was missing when he arrived for work on Tuesday, claiming it was there when he left Monday evening. The tractor was valued at $12,500.

Mickley said that two men were in Monday asking about the Simplicity tractor and left without making a purchase. Another customer who was back on Tuesday claims he saw the two men as well. The suspects were reportedly driving a red flatbed truck.

“They used the nature trail out back to get away,” said Mickley, believing the tractor was pushed to a certain point and loaded onto a truck, adding that footprints disappear at that point. The incident is under investigation.
