Big load coming through town

There were no real problems, it just took a little time to maneuver this long heavy haul trailer, with a Rolls-Royce gas turbine, around light poles and corners, around Public Square, Wednesday morning. The company said it is a RB211 unit that will power 42 megawatts electrical generators. It is one of eight units going to Ofon Gas and Oil field off Nigeria. Rolls-Royce won the $150 million contract in 2009.  (Virgil Shipley)

Cornish Road crash

Blaine Williams, 18, Apple Valley, lost control of his dad’s Ford F-150 pickup on Cornish Road, Wednesday at 5:13 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the pickup went left of center, clipped the right of an approaching car driven by Paul Wheeler, 58, Mount Vernon. Wheeler was taken to Knox Community Hospital for a checkup by the Monroe Township squad. The patrol said Williams pickup skidded 367 feet out of control.
