Deputy wounded in shootout in Morrow County

Law enforcement officials check out a property and residence on County Road 179 in Morrow County after a shootout occurred Thursday between a Morrow County Sheriff’s Deputy and the resident. Both men were taken to Grant Medical Center for their gunshot wounds.  (Virgil Shipley)

Schonauer honored by Realtors

Max Schonauer was honored Wednesday by the Knox County Board of Realtors for his years of service to the industry. He grew up in the Bellville area and in the 1950s worked as a brick and stone mason in Fredericktown. In 1977, he began a new career as a real estate broker working for Karhl and Warner Realty and for Keith Oliver Realty. In 1982, he established Schonauer Realty and in 2000 began working for Showcase Realty, recently marking 10 years with the firm. Schonauer lives with Kathleen, his wife of 63 years. They have seven children, 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.  (Submitted photo)

A nice place to study

The library is full of noisy kids and Foundation Lake Park was a more inviting place to study Wednesday afternoon. Ashley Langford, Apple Valley, is in a medical assistance adult program at the Knox County Career Center and has several books and much homework ahead.  (Virgil Shipley)

A pickup game at lunch
