The old drinking fountain that was along West High Street at Riverside Park is back in place. Refurbished and installed next to the park’s waterfall, it has a new brass bowl atop the old cast iron, with grapes cast into fountain. A rededication ceremony took place Friday morning. From left are Councilman John Fair; Mayor Richard Mavis; Council members Rebecca Jordan, Chuck Dice (taking a drink), John Booth, Bruce Hawkins and Mike Hillier; and city parks superintendent Geoff Oliver. Born, raised and still living in the west end, Dice told the group, “This is a happy day for the citizens of the west end — the return of a historic piece to Riverside Park.”
