MOUNT VERNON — Five days remain until numerous candidates and issues will be decided on in the 2010 general election Tuesday, Nov. 2. Knox County residents can still elect to vote early, according to Kim Horn, director of the Knox County Board of Elections. As of Tuesday, more than 5,107 county residents had chosen to vote early, with 3,877 requesting a mailed ballot.

Early votes can still be cast until 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1. Those wanting to cast an early vote on Saturday can do so from 9 a.m. to noon. No identification will be necessary for those voting early, but a paper application will be required to be filled out before voting.

With 40,304 county residents registered to vote, Horn expects about a one-third voter turnout, based on averages of past elections with a governor’s race. Explanation of various issues and candidates’ profiles can be found at www.mountvernonnews.com.

Polls will be open on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those seeking information regarding which voting precinct to use, visit www.co.knox.oh.us and click on Registered Voter, Polling Place Search.
