Fire assessment moves forward

Mount Vernon Fire Department Chief Shawn Christy, in the white shirt, was in a meeting this morning with other fire officials in front of the building at 201 S. Main St. The group is assessing the remnants of the old Kresge building in order to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed it Monday morning.   (Virgil Shipley)

A practice run

Customers returning to stores on N. Main
