  • October 29, 2010 11:15 am EDT

BANGS — A crash between a semi truck and car occurred on U.S. 36 at Keys Road near Bangs about 7:20 a.m. sending a driver to the hospital and closing the highway for an hour.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Chad McGinty said the semi was pulling out of the NiSource facility (the former Columbia Gas facility) when the westbound car, a Chevrolet Cobalt, ran under the trailer.

The front end of the car was wedged under the trailer back to the windshield. McGinty said rescuers from the Central Ohio Joint Fire District had to cut the door open to extricate the driver. He was flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center.

Names and other details were not available at press time.
