Cornfield catches fire
Fredericktown Community Volunteer Fire District firefighters confined this cornfield fire to one-half an acre on Ohio 95, a mile northeast of Fredericktown Monday afternoon. Fire Chief Scott Mast said the property owner Dave Freisch started a trash fire and sparks were blown onto the field. Crews were on station when the call came in at 4:11 p.m. and were on the scene in five minutes preventing the fire from spreading into standing corn only 30 feet away. (Virgil Shipley)
