MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced three men in felony cases.
Steven E. Davison, 21, Mount Vernon, was convicted of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor for engaging in sexual conduct with a 13-year-old female victim on June 18.
Davison was sentenced to a two-year prison term and labeled a Tier III sex offender. Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher said Davison will be required to register his address with law enforcement for life. Detective Tom Bumpus, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
Jerad L. Shaw, 29, Mount Vernon, was convicted of seven counts of violating the terms of a Civil Protection Order granted to his ex-wife by the Knox County Court of Common Pleas in December 2009. Shaw sent harassing text messages to her in April and May. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison. Thatcher said the charges are felonies due to Shaw’s prior conviction for misdemeanor violation of a protection order in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court last year. Patrol Officer Jessica Butler, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Michael T. Moore, 31, Mount Vernon, was convicted of breaking and entering and was sentenced to an 11-month prison term. Thatcher said in June, Moore broke into a commercial property on Pittsburgh Avenue to steal copper. Detective Sgt. Roger Brown and Detective Doug Turpen, KCSO, investigated the case.
