  • November 10, 2010 11:22 am EST

BLADENSBURG — A fall from a tree stand resulted in the death of a hunter late Tuesday.

Thomas Giles, of Newark, was hunting on a friend’s property on Jug Run Road, near Bladensburg, when he accidentally fell from a tree stand and died, according to Knox County Coroner Jennifer Ogle. Giles was said to be in his 70s.

Ogle said it was not immediately known if Giles’ death was caused by the fall from the tree or if by some other cause. An autopsy is scheduled today which should help determine the cause of death.

No additional information was available at press time.
