MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners met with Knox County Auditor Jonette Curry and Donna McNally of the Jon-Wesley Insurance Agency on Monday afternoon to review some proposed employee insurance changes for 2011. Three individual insurance components looked at were dental, vision and provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

In looking at the county’s vision plan, options were presented on keeping the current plan as is or changing it to a voluntary basis, where benefits would be available when needed. Current premiums are at $4.54 per unit. If kept as is, the plan’s premium would be increased by 3 percent to $4.68. Changing it to voluntary would mean a 5 percent increase to $4.77.

“The number of participants is less, so you would have fewer people paying for the same total premium,” said McNally.
