DANVILLE — The Danville Village Council had a light agenda when the group met Monday. The members explored several topics during the meeting, but agreed on just two motions.
Finance committee chairman Darin Durbin presented an estimate on liability insurance on vehicles, property and buildings, as well as other items. Council had requested changing the deductible from $500 to $2,500 in hopes of saving money in the long run. But, the estimate from Rinehart, Walters and Danner Insurance Co. out of Mansfield on the Ohio Plan Risk Management would only save the village $42 per year on its premium. After some discussion, council agreed to ratify the proposal for a $500 deductible, but will ask the company for an estimate with a $1,000 deductible.
Council also agreed to renew its membership with the Ohio Municipal League. The village pays $468 per year for its membership, which helps in many ways, including training and representation, and helps the village get better rates on its workers’ compensation premiums.
