In line to help out the family

Vehicles are lined up early in the evening Saturday at the Coshocton Avenue Dairy Queen waiting to participate in a fundraiser to benefit kidnapping survivor Sarah Maynard, 13, whose mother Tina Herrmann worked at the Dairy Queen before her death on Nov. 10. According to Mike Turk, a partner in the DQ business, $1 from every Blizzard sold Saturday was put into a trust fund for Sarah Maynard and the children of Stephanie Sprang. Cash donations were also accepted. General Manager Valerie Haythorn said this morning that 2,523 Blizzards had been purchased Saturday, and cash donations added thousands of dollars to the total amount raised, which she said exceeded $9,000. “The community outpouring was just amazing,” Haythorn. “We wanted to do this for the children because Tina is part of our family.”  (Virgil Shipley)
