MOUNT VERNON — Numerous projects were discussed when the Knox County Commissioners met Monday with water/wastewater superintendent Jason Figgins.

Recently put in place was a Wide Area Network provided by Eagle Communications which connects numerous components tying in with the Sensus Flex-net meter reading system. While information is transferred to a server for billing and monitoring services, Figgins stressed the need to assure it is a secure private network.

“We don’t want to be sharing certain information with the public,” said Figgins. “Once all is in and organized, we’ll shoot for Dec. 6 in making all the communications back and forth. We just want to be sure and do it securely.”

Figgins said he is waiting for approval on a submitted permit to install for upgrades at the Little Jelloway Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is a policy for engineering plans through the Environmental Protection Agency.
