Socks are being collected again this holiday season at the office of Dr. Bob Atwell’s practice, 809-A Coshocton Ave. Helping him hang the first socks were Shade Fortney. The socks are distributed to the Salvation Army, Interchurch and New Directions in Mount Vernon.  (Virgil Shipley)

Main Street open for traffic

South Main Street is now officially opened after being closed to vehicle traffic for four weeks. The extended road closure follows a fire that damaged the former Kresge building beyond repair.  (Kenesha R. Beheler)

Downtown set for holiday festivities

A Christmas Carousel will be part of the Christmas Walk and Parade activities in downtown Mount Vernon on Sunday. The carousel will be on West Vine Street. The Christmas Walk will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. downtown, with the Christmas parade set for 2:30 p.m.  (Submitted photo)
