  • November 30, 2010 10:57 am EST

MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners met with three county department heads for 2011 budget hearings Monday. Sandra Mizer presented the budget for the office of the treasurer, setting appropriations for 2011 at $149,989.60. Appropriations were down more than $8,000 from 2010, and expenditures have dropped over the past two years as well.

In looking at the monthly expenses as of the end of November, Mizer stated that there will still be $2,000 owed. “This is mainly for printing of bills and envelopes,” said Mizer. “I will still have that expense near the end of the year.”

An individual expense account named “Other Expenses” was budgeted dramatically lower than recent years at $13,000. “I’m all right with the $13,000,” said Mizer. “I’ve tried to go paperless as much as I can. My main concern is salary line items.”

Juvenile Court Judge James Ronk presented the 2011 budget for the county juvenile court at $569,350. His appropriations were also down from 2010, showing a decrease of exactly $25,000.

Appropriations for the board of elections were identical to 2010 at $350,000, as presented by Kim Horn.
