MOUNT VERNON — A Mount Vernon surveying firm filed a civil suit last week against a New Guilford Road couple, seeking $180,000 in damages, after Mount Vernon Police alleged approximately $46,000 was embezzled from the firm.

Cami S. Stidham, 36, was charged with grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, and arrested Nov. 10 by the MVPD. The complaint filed in court by MVPD Detective Craig Feeney, alleges the $46,000 was taken between June 1 and Nov. 9 of this year, while Stidham worked for Tracy & Mills Surveyors Inc.

Stidham’s husband, John, 45, was arrested Nov. 9 by Knox County Sheriff’s investigators and is being held on $100,000 bond in the Knox County Jail on a charge of receiving stolen property in a separate case. He has not been charged in the embezzlement case at this time, but is named as a defendant in the civil suit filed by Attorney Robert Rauzi on Nov. 23.
