MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Mount Liberty on Saturday night.

According to Sheriff David Barber, deputies were summoned to Beck’s Tack and Supply, 7113 Columbus Road, at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday after a male subject with a knife entered the store and robbed the clerk.

Barber said no one was injured in the robbery and that the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of Marlboro cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, and he was wearing a green hooded “Carhart-style” jacket, blue jeans and a scarf or mask covering his face.

Following the robbery, the suspect fled on foot north on Thatcher Street where a vehicle was apparently waiting and that vehicle was last seen on Lundy Lane driving toward Simmons Church Road. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored vehicle — make, model and license number are unknown.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery should contact Detective Doug Turpen at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at 393-6800.
