MOUNT VERNON — A Mount Vernon City van was stolen Thursday morning while a city employee from the engineering department was working downtown.

“He had stopped to work on something when someone jumped inside his van and drove off,” said Mayor Richard Mavis.

The incident was reported to the police department and a short time later the vehicle was found parked at Foster Pharmacy on East High Street, said Mavis.

“We do have our van back,” he said. “No one was hurt and the van wasn’t wrecked, damaged or anything.”
