  • Collection points open for FFH donations

MOUNT VERNON — Today’s Food for the Hungry drive will offer collection points throughout Knox County. There are sites set up to collect both food and monetary donations while others will accept only cash.

Collection points and hours are:

Brinkhaven — Post Office* — 9 a.m. to noon.

Howard — Post Office* — 9 a.m. to noon.

Millwood — Spearman’s Restaurant *— 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gambier — Village Market — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Apple Valley — Killbuck Savings Bank* — 9 a.m. to noon.

Apple Valley — Valley General Store — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Centerburg — Post Office, Village Gazebo — 9 a.m. to noon.

Centerburg — Dollar General, Hometown Market, Interchurch Social Services — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Danville — First-Knox National Bank*, Killbuck Savings*, Post Office* — 9 a.m. to noon.

Danville — Dale’s Cardinal Market, Lyon’s Den, That Place on Market, Danville Elementary School, Lonsinger Pharmacy* — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mount Vernon — City Hall, Aldi, Big Kmart, Kroger, Lanning’s Foods, Neff’s Cardinal Market, Walmart Supercenter — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The top items needed for local food pantries include canned meat, beef stew or hearty soups, canned pasta, boxed dinners, peanut butter, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, hot and cold cereal, noodles, instant rice and potatoes, canned fruits and vegetables.
