MOUNT VERNON — A meeting between the Knox County Commissioners and the county 9-1-1 and EMA boards on Monday resulted in the issuance of administrative leave for Knox County Emergency Management Agency Director Brian Hess, according to Commissioner Allen Stockberger.

“We’re trying to be a responsible employer,” said Stockberger. “Since there are allegations, it was deemed the appropriate action is to investigate these allegations.”

Stockberger explained that an outside source has been obtained to conduct the investigation.

“There is no hard evidence of any wrongdoing,” said Stockberger. “Brian is innocent until proven otherwise. He will be on administrative leave until allegations are substantiated or dismissed.”

Stockberger would not elaborate as to the details of the allegations but did confirm the complaint was received from dispatchers.

Calls to Hess for comment were unreturned at press time.
