CENTERBURG — Centerburg Elementary principal Chuck Davis will be retiring at the end of the current school year after serving the Centerburg community for 33 years as an educator. The school board granted his request for retirement at its meeting on Monday.
Superintendent Dorothy Holden commended all that Davis has brought to the district, and said the district will miss him.
Davis said it has been a wonderful and humbling experience to serve the Centerburg community.
“I am grateful, yet humbled, for having been a part of something greater than all of us,” he said to the board. “The joy of working with young people, children and teachers will be forever part of me. Thank you for believing in me and allowing me to be part of Centerburg schools.”
Davis’ wife, Kerry, recently retired from Highland Local Schools, and Davis said he is looking forward to a “bright and exciting” future together. They are expecting their first grandchild in the spring.
Davis also said he would be available after retirement to help with a smooth transition of leadership at Centerburg Elementary.
