New mayor in Fredericktown
Alan Kintner, right, was officially sworn in as the Mayor of Fredericktown on Monday evening by Knox County Commissioner Teresa Bemiller, left. Stepping into the role of mayor as current council president, Kintner will serve the remaining one year of Roger Reed’s term as Reed will begin duties as Knox County commissioner on Jan. 1. Council was not able to convene Monday as three of the six council members were absent. Council is scheduled to meet on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (Alan Reed)

A cowboy Christmas in Fredericktown
There are 80 different Christmas ornaments on display in the Fredericktown Community Park. They are the property of Nora, and now the late John, Parsons. Nora Parsons, a native of Fredericktown, has lives for several years in Texas and returned home to live. The Parsonses added to the collection over several years. They will be on display each evening from 5:30 to 11 p.m. through Dec. 31. (Virgil Shipley)
